Holy Family RC Primary School, Keresley, Coventry were awarded funding for the development of their Key Stage One Playground which was in desperate need of resurfacing as it was over 60 years old and collecting surface water, preventing the children from using it. The playground had become dull and unsafe as a result.

The Head Teacher wanted to create an environment for the children that could provide year-round play and was accessible to everyone. The school wanted to add colour to the playground surface. The School Playground Company helped the school to discuss ideas for the playground including new equipment and a Mongolian Yurt as an outdoor classroom that the school could use for teaching. Once the design and quote were signed off, work was undertaken comprising of a Trim Trail, Mongolian Yurt with a rubber mulch linking pathway, Pirate Ship imaginative play equipment, recycled plastic benches, fantastic new play panels mounted to the school wall, Playground Markings and of course the new Tarmac Playground Surfacing.

The School Playground Company’s installation team set to work installing the new timber trim trail and boat themed playground equipment. Once the new Tarmac surfacing had been laid, The School Playground Company could then install the new playground markings A 1-20 number snake, hopscotch, ball throw lines and a fantastic 1-100 number grid. The recycled plastic benches and finally the new rubber bark safety surfacing were all laid to complete the playground transformation.
The playground resurfacing was completed on time and the children and staff of Holy Family Primary School, Coventry are delighted with the result.
