For National Storytelling Week 2024, The School Playground Company is excited to announce our brand new competition! For schools across the East and West Midlands, South Yorkshire, and the surrounding areas (more information below*). You can win a Free Reading Area with your choice of brand new Mini Reading Hut or Storytelling Area Set!

Children deserve a reading area that will encourage involvement in storytelling, reading, and creativity. This competition will allow one lucky school to provide this without putting a strain on school budgets.

Celebrate a love for reading and storytelling on the school playground with brand new specialised reading areas on us! We recommend this playground equipment for a primary school reading for schools looking to create a secure space for students. Encourage them to enjoy reading, learning, and playing in the great outdoors.

Outdoor Reading Hut

Free Reading Area Hut Structure

A mini Reading Hut is a great investment for any school playground. Therefore, the chance to win one for FREE is an incredible opportunity! We are proud to be able to provide a lucky school with the chance to win a premium outdoor play house reading hut with free installation (within limited locations*)

The shelter structure can be used as an outdoor reading area. This promotes imagination and creativity as the perfect feature to enhance your school playground. Kids can explore their imaginations with unlimited opportunities for reading, storytelling, play, and fun with the Reading Hut.

The mini reading hut is 2 metres by 2 metres, designed, manufactured, and installed by our experienced team of playground experts. With a secure, creative design, the freestanding shelter creates an enclosed area that lets fresh air circulate while keeping students dry with a pitched roof and a range of panelling options

The Reading Hut available in this competition has a sturdy timber deck base made from the same laminated timber as the hut itself. With strong beams and a sloped waterproofed roof, the hut will be a feature of your playground standing strong for years to come.

Storytelling Seating Set

Free Reading Area Seating Set

A reading area set includes a wooden storytelling chair and 4 cube stools. These aresmall seats perfect for any reading area for primary school children. A quiet reading area with high-quality comfortable seating is a great setting to encourage kids to read and learn together.

Create a unique story circle with portable cube seats designed for comfort and usability. The wooden cubes are easy to store and very durable. The texture of artificial grass on the tops of the cubes creates a sensory seat that kids love. All while giving the area a natural look matching the wooden storytelling chair.

Bring lessons to the playground in the outdoor reading area to give students a change of scenery for a unique learning opportunity. The storytelling seat is large enough for teachers to sit at the front of the class chair circle in group reading. Additioinally, students can lead show-and-tell or similar activities from the front of the outdoor classroom of their peers.

The competition ends at midday on Friday 1st March 2024, any submissions after this time will not be counted
The winner can select 1 of the 2 prizes, either a Mini Reading Hut or a Reading Area Set (complete with storytelling chair and 4 portable seating cubes)
Only 1 submission will be counted per site (based on post code)
*Free installation is available only for sites within the regions of the East and West Midlands, South Yorkshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Doncaster, and Staffordshire
- For submissions from any other areas, installation and transport fees will be confirmed at a later date
